A close look at a news presenter’s language on public TV

This unit targets a common misconception that ‘good’ language is the same in writing and speaking, by showing that cliticisations, reductions etc. are systematic features of speech, including language in such a strongly controlled, formal setting as public TV news. Pupils analyse the language of a news presenter on public TV and discuss deviations from written ‘standard’ German in this example, and in other contexts
